Always have an extra cucumber, zucchini, and/or squash on hand

Who wants to get home, prepare to start cooking, finish making their meal, sit down to enjoy, only to realize that their cucumber in their salad is bitter, their pan seared zucchini is bitter, or their roasted squash is bitter? For this reason, when grocery shopping, always buy an extra one of these veggies, and wash and taste first, before using in your recipe. Has happened to me many times.
