The 20 Minute One Pot Beefy Pasta

This is DEFINITELY one of those dishes that will become a family meal favorite because it is easy, delicious, covers the carbohydrate, protein, and vegetable groups, and only takes one pot to make it. This recipe is for 4 servings, which only uses a 1/2 box of pasta, and will teach you to make your own beefy pasta, without using those pre-packaged similar meals that include preservatives. Hope you enjoy this as much as we do. Here we go……

1 pound lean ground beef

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon ground bay leaves (or 1 small bay leaf put in when adding water later)

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 box whole grain or white rotini pasta ( enough for 4 servings)

2 cups water

1 cup your favorite pasta sauce OR 1 cup of The Simply Home Made Spaghetti Sauce (check out my recipe blog)

2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil

Parmesan cheese for garnish

fresh snipped parsley for garnish

heavy bottom pan with lid, or non-stick skillet with lid or use aluminum foil to cover

optional- ladle or spoon and coffee cup or bowl, to scoop out any melted fat

On medium-high heat, brown your ground beef and seasonings in your pan for about 10 minutes, until fully cooked. If possible, very carefully tilt pan a little to ladle or spoon out melted fat and put it in a coffee cup or bowl to discard after it cools, in the garbage (do not pour down drain so it won’t clog your drain). Next add your pasta, water, sauce, and oil, and mix well. Cover, and cook on medium-high heat for 10 minutes ( I always set my timer), stirring once during cooking. Remove from heat, and garnish. Let cool for a few minutes, and enjoy !!! (As it cools, it will thicken).
