The Hearty Chili

A definite favorite of so many people, The Hearty Chili, is my recipe that I use for making several different types of meals, one of them being The Chili, Cheese, & Egg Breakfast Burrito, which I will post after this one. Another dish that I use this for is a one pot pasta dish, which I will also post at a later time. Please enjoy this recipe, and feel free to substitute the ground beef with ground turkey, if you are looking for a healthier alternative. This recipe is for 8 servings. Here we go……
2 lb lean ground beef
1 cup seasoning blend (combination of diced onions, bell peppers, celery, parsley)
4 1/2 cups water (or (6) 6 oz cans of water – using your tomato paste cans before you throw them out)
(2) 6 oz. cans tomato paste
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons cumin powder or ground cumin
3 tablespoons paprika
1 tsp sugar
3 cloves of crushed or minced garlic
non stick pan
Add ground beef and seasoning blend to pan and brown ground beef for about 10-15 minutes on medium high, breaking it apart as much as you can with your cooking utensil. If your ground beef is fatty and releases a lot of fat into pan, spoon out fat into a cup, and once cooled and becomes solid, throw it away (I use my recycled grocery bags. Please don’t ever dump the grease down your drain, because it may clog it up). If your ground beef hardly has any fat and is catching to the bottom of your pan, then add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup water to loosen everything up. Now it is time to combine all of our other ingredients listed above and blend everything well. Reduce heat to medium low, and let your ingredients blend together for about 10 more minutes. Enjoy !!!
